Hot, steamy Tuesday night at the Track…

Tuesdays are almost always track workout nights.
Tonight we were at the University of St. Thomas track. The area around is still under construction and it’s fairly hard to find a way into the track. Normally we do a warmup/cooldown on Summit Ave or along the Mississippi trails, but we were stuck on the track.

2010 Afton 25K Trail Race recap

I’ll just start by saying, somehow I finished this race and I probably shouldn’t have.
This race is tough, very brutal. The weather was going to add to the pain, sunny with temps were 80 with the dewpoint right around 70 for the start. I ate/drank the couple days before like I was going to do a marathon. Made sure to get plenty or rest, lots of Gatorade, and carbs.

2010 Afton Trail Run prerace thoughts…

Well here I am on the eve of easily the hardest race I’ve ever ran and I’m getting a wee bit nervous. I took a look at the forecast and it looks too July-like. Temps in the 80s, dew points in the mid-60s, and a lot of sun. Blah.

June 2010 Summary

June was not a good month.
Coming off of a late May marathon, I knew June was going to be a recovery month. I was hoping to get a 5k or two in there somewhere and get my mileage back to around 60 miles a week. None of that happened.

The night the Hyland Hills beat me into submission…

It was really bound to happen sometime this year. Last year they tried to get me with bee stings three different times. This year, they were really working to take me down.
I wasn’t even going to go, especially with the Afton Trail 25k on Saturday (which by the way is going to be brutal), but Jake talked me into it. Then I get to the parking lot and two of the fast guys are there and they looked like …
